STANDARDIZATION

The year year 1969 when the first aimed at standardizing the work was done P.R.F.V., U.S.. The aim was to cover manufacturing standards resistant to chemicals equipment and molded manually. Its title is: Voluntary Product Standard PS 15-69, Vs. Departament Of. Commerce, National Bureau Of. Standards.

From 1971 has carried out important work by standardization American Society for Testig and Materials (ASTM)”. There are a number of specifications covering various aspects and applications of FRP. in the construction of tanks and pipes.

Another very important rule is drafted by the American Protroleum Instituto (A.P.I.). It refers to the application of FRP pipe. for driving oil, gas y agua. Their number is 15 LR.

In England British Standards Istitution (B.S.I.) elaborated in 1973 Standard B.S. 4994 which broadly covers the construction of all tanks type. He also has published B.S. 5480 of 1977, respect to the manufacture of GRP pipe.

Our country has the approval of GRP pipes. by the company Aguas Argentinas, which bases its foreign technical specifications Standards, Standard fundamentally AWWA C 950.

It is noteworthy that the Argentine Institute of Materials (I.R.A.M.) Standards has developed oriented pipe manufacturing unsaturated polyester reinforced with fiberglass for the transport of water and sewage, with and without pressure. STRAPLAS S.A. part of this committee that studies and analyzes these Rules.

There are other rules in our environment but less used:

ISO: International Organization for Standardization.

AFNOR: Medical Association française de normalization (N.F.). French Standard.

IRANOR: National Institute of Standardization and Rationalization (A). Spanish Standard.

ANSI: American National Standard.
